about this blog

“Well, normally I’m against big things. I think the world is going to be saved by millions of small things.”–Pete Seeger, 2010

This blog is dedicated to the idea that even as the world seems to be increasingly fractious, the arts can bring us together. The seeds of it were planted more than a decade ago when my wife and I attended our first Newport Folk Festival. We’ve spent a lifetime seeing live music and going to festivals of every description, and whenever people come together for any event there is always, of course, some level of connection. But nothing prepared us for the pervasive sense of community and good will that exists for those three days at Newport each summer.

This blog is a collection of articles, quotations, videos, and links intended to foster that good will in all of us. It is a simple notion. A small thing.
